2014 Belmont Sprint Betting Preview and Tips

May 30th, 2014

Just 10 runners have been confirmed for the 2014 Group 3 Belmont Sprint (1400m) in Western Australia this weekend, offering punters exceptional value from a betting point of view and several key opportunities to place a winning bet.

Allocated the ideal barrier 1 for the 2014 Belmont Sprint, Elite Belle is currently sole occupant of the top line of betting for success this weekend, offered at a quote of $2.40, ahead of clear market mover Checkpoint ($3.40), Kalahaar ($4.80) and Ranger ($9.50).

Can Elite Belle justify favouritism and win the 2014 Belmont Sprint, or will one of her talented rivals find the line in the clear?

1st

Elite Belle ($2.40)

Securing an impressive total of five wins and a further 8 minor places from just 18 competitive race starts so far, all signs point towards a Belmont Sprint victory for Elite Belle this weekend. A standout performer throughout major Perth events over the late spring/summer, the Canny Lad mare won both the Listed Carbine Clun of W.A. Stakes (1400m) and Listed La Trice Classic (1800m) most notably and finished sixth in the major Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m). Confirmed to be partnered by regular jockey William Pike, trainer Grant Williams is confident of another polished performance from Elite Belle this weekend.

2nd

Checkpoint ($3.40)

Contesting a short yet successful 2014 spring campaign, Checkpoint was unlucky to finish third in a fanning finish in the Group 3 Prince Of Wales Stakes (1200m) first-up; once again finishing just a short nose behind Conservatorium when second in the Group 2 Steere Stakes (1400m) on November 9th. Returning to racing with a spirited third in the Group 3 Roma Cup (1200m) on May 17th, the Snitzel gelding has been confirmed to be partnered by jockey Brad Parham in the 2014 Belmont Sprint, and will leave from barrier 7.

3rd

When We Were Kings ($17)

Likely to receive the run of the race from the central barrier 5 this weekend, When We Were Kings arguably offers punters the best value for money in Belmont Sprint betting markets at current $17 to win, or $4 to run a place. Securing a total of seven wins and as many minor places from 23 competitive starts so far, the Mcflirt gelding has returned to the track in competitive order this season; finishing second in both the Amelia Park Sprint (1200m) and Tabtouch.com.au 3.y.o+ (1400m).
